COURSE OBJECTIVE

The course is a complement to Systems Engineering CET-3383. This course will emphasize Database Implementation. Database structures will be examined in light of coding, testing, handling and interface, and within the concept of central administration, and storage.

 

 

PROJECT REQUIREMENT

The student will develop a database application. Given informational data a system will be generated for implementing a database structure accessible by software and that can satisfy specified functional requirements.

TEST GRADING: All tests will be based on 100 points, using standard values for the grades, with no curve application; that is:

  A......... 90 - 100, B....... 80 - 89.9

C......... 70 - 79.9 D....... 60 - 69.9

FREE BONUS POINTS can only be issued during class time. They are given by the Instructor during lecture time, and they are accrued during the course. These points are given in response to questions, problems, given by the Instructor in class. The Instructor will issue these points at the end of the lecture, by signing your notebook or work sheet. Instructor signature is required in order to claim these points. These points will then be counted and recorded by the end of the course.

 

MAKEUP Policy: No MAKE-UPs will be given, unless the student informs the teacher one week and a half in advance about his or her reason for not taking the scheduled Exam. MAKEUPs are usually more difficult than regular tests due to the fact that they are given at a later time, and more material has been covered.

EFFECT ON FINAL GRADE: Should any one of required work1, such as presentations, specific assignments, take-home problems, etc is not done, the final class average will be lowered by one grade or more.  

1 "Required work" will be specifically identified by the Instructor. All major exams and project reports are considered required work. However, required work may not be limited to exams and reports only.

2 "Undesirable behavior" is defined as that behavior that may cause frequent unnecessary distraction to the Instructor or students in class, as well as disrespect shown towards the Instructor by means of comments or actions.
